Dust can slow down or even ruin your computer - here's what you need to know to fix this problem!

Does this look like the inside of your computer?
Most of us take their computers for granted. We just assume they work and complain and moan when they don't. But we don't realize it is simple things like dust for instance can greatly affect the way our computer behaves. Dust inside your computer is akin to rust on a car. It starts slowly and you don't notice anything for a while, but then your computer starts behaving strangely, applications start running slower and hangups and crashes become all the more frequent.
What dust has been proven to do to the internal components of the computer is 1) that they cause heat build up and retention especially on CPUs and other electronic components that build up lots of heat, 2) they can clog up the fan and cause it to run slower and become less efficient, and 3) dust can actually cause electrical shorts and even result in a burned-out motherboard. I've actually had this happen to me in the past from dust.
You see dust can actually attract moisture and in most houses the actual humidity level is somewhere between 40 and 60%. So if you have a big build up of dust inside your computer they can then take some of this moisture and hold it and you would never notice it by looking at, but that's all it takes is for a minute amount of moisture and it can short out your motherboard.

So what can one do to make your PC run faster and stop dust buildup? Well, first, if you haven't lately - and most of us haven't, take the cover off of your PC and look inside and see if there's a lot of dust. If you're like most people you will see quite a layer of dust all of your PC if it's one year old or older. Double that if you have cats or dogs and triple that if you smoke near your computer.
Smoking not only creates dust but it also leaves car like residue just like you would on your lungs on the inside of your computer and everything else in your house. This is why smoking cause your fingers to turn yellow, your ceilings and walls to turn yellow, and your lungs to turn black over the years. If you can't quit smoking which I highly advise that you do, at least do not do it in the same room as your computer or any other important electronic equipment.
Now there is a new product that has recently come out that you can find it local Home Depot and other similar stores which are filters that fit over the air intake were vents on your computer. By placing these filters, most of which have self stick applications so they are very easy to apply and provide a good seal, you will effectively block out 95% of the dust ends up in your computer. The rest of the dust comes in through the cracks and openings like worry you install or insert photo cards, your CDs, etc. there's nothing you can do about this portion of dust except to be sure and take your PC once a year and clean it.

If you're like most people you get your oil changed your car regularly at every 3000 to 5000 miles. You also check the tire pressure, top off your fluids regularly, etc.. right? Well whether you do that or not your computer needs a little bit of care which most people do not bother to give it. Once a year you should set apart 10 to 30 minutes to turn off your computer open it up and used a aerosol dust spray and clean out the dust. Be sure and apply a dust filter to the vent area after you've cleaned it.
By the simple act of cleaning and removing the dust inside your computer you can lower the operating temperature of your CPU by 10 or more degrees. You can greatly reduce the risks of developing a humidity and dust related electrical short or other similar problem. Your PC will undeniably run faster and better like it should. There are two things primarily that slow down computers, the first is obviously dust build up, and the second would be registry problems which can include spamware, malware, etc.
