The Google redirect virus, how to remove it and how to get your system to work like new again!

Well, wouldn't you know it, the hackers are at it again. Now they're taking over your Internet Explorer with a virus that just basically makes it so that when you search on Google you get redirected to spam adds or porn websites. Some of these sites you get redirected to contain what's called malware and will install spyware, Trojan horses, keyword loggers, and more nasty things that you definitely do not want on your computer. These viruses that caused this are generally referred to as Google redirect viruses and they can be highly frustrating if you don't know how to handle them (they also tend to be rampant on free websites like Craigslist and Freecycle).
The weird thing about these Google redirect viruses is that they somehow bypass most antivirus and anti-spyware software like McAfee and Norton. All it takes to get one is to go click on an e-mail link that may seem to be friendly or from someone you know but it's infected. Once you click on this you now have the Google redirect virus and possibly other viruses or other malware derived programs. The bad thing here is a lot of these hackers are using this as a stepping stone to get into your computer and get your personal financial information which they can then use to access your website, e-mail, bank accounts, investing accounts and more.
How do you know that you have the Google redirect virus and it's not something else, just use the mouse on your computer and placed the cursor along or above the links on any Google search. If instead of these links coming up is what they're supposed to be they come off as links to spam ware sites and they are basically all to the same address then you know you have the Google redirect virus. Now, at the same time you may also have other viruses, keyword loggers or other nasty programs installed in your computer, so you need to take action quickly before they get any pertinent financial information or personal information from you.

To get rid of the Google redirect virus (or what is also called the Internet Explorer virus) you will find that it is very hard to do that with your Norton or McAfee software. Many times the Google redirect virus will actually seize up or even enter itself as administrator or other similar privileges and block these programs from being able to stop it and quarantine it. The easiest way I've found to get rid of the Google redirect virus is to employ some freeware called spy bot which is rarely available for download and it's absolutely free.
Spy bot will then search far deeper and far better into your computer than McAfee and Norton combined. It will then show you exactly every single virus, spyware program, key logger, Trojan horse, etc. on your computer and will allow you to remove each and every single one of them. You can also choose to let it run your background just like you do with McAfee or Norton to keep this from happening ever again - I advise this heavily. Spy bot is easy to use and very effective at her moving the Google redirect virus.
Basically, what you have to understand nowadays, unfortunately, is that computer security is becoming an ever greater issue as not only are their hackers out there doing many pillows things just to trash systems and so forth, but there are also black hat or really nasty competitors out there that will actually hire hackers to do this or similar hacks to their competition. If you have a e-commerce website and it makes any money at all you need to get spy bot and a good antivirus and anti-spam program on your computer because you will sooner or later run into some nasty competitors that don't play fair or by the rules.

They will hack your computer however they can even involving the Google redirect virus and Trojan horses to try and access your passwords and then your accounts in hopes to alter your website so that you get deranked or delisted from Google and other top search engines. And don't believe they won't - it's happening in almost every niche. It's amazing how low some people and businesses will stoop - so get yourself protected and install strong security for your computer and as an added measure either turn off your computer when you're not there or set up a complete far wall block so no one can access it when you're not on it. Thanks for the great how to article on getting rid of the Google redirect virus. I installed the spybot program and found 2 harmful trojans and 1 keylogger program. I never knew they were on my system. Spyybot removed them in a few minutes and I am now clean...
On another note, I used the link for the Registry program above and my system had all sorts of problems that were bogging it down. It runs 50% faster now and that is a big difference and definitely worth it! Thanks for the great tips and advice!

Thanks for the great advice. I was wondering what was going on. Everytime I searched on Google all the links took me to some mlm marketing scheme or similar. I don't know how I got the Google redirect virus, but it sure sucked. I installed Spybot, ran it and it cleared it all out. Thanks again for the great advice. Great blog, too - read several of your articles and they are top notch - keep up the good work.

I just got a link to this through my local Freecycle. This was just what I needed. I clicked on one of those replies to my post and blamo, got some malware or a virus on my computer. Your tip on the free spybot malware removal tip was excellent. It took about 3 minutes or so and it easily removed 2 trojan horses, some spamware and 1 malware item. It then documented everything and my computer works great once again. Thank you for the great advice.

Someone at the Charlotte Craigslist forwarded this to me through my email. I second what Steve found. The Spybot program worked great. However, it did not speed up my machine too much. So, on a lark, I tried the link for the registry software and was truly amazed! That worked unbelievably. My computer now runs like a brand new machine!

I might need something like that. My computer just keeps getting locked up and is really slow all the time. Mary, if you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost for the registry software? Is it a one time price or is it a monthly charge with updates included?
