H1N1 Swine Flu Pandemic and what is really happening
I am sure that by now you have heard of the recent swine flu outbreak in and around the areas of Mexico City. The exact type of flu has never been seen before and it is a variant of a formal flu that affects pigs (hence the name swine flu). The problem with viruses like the flu is that they change or mutate (as scientists like t to refer to this property as). So a predominantly pig virus or flu that never before affected humans could all of a sudden mutate into a form that does affect humans. This is apparently what has happened with the H1N1 SWINE FLU. It has mutated and can now affect or infect humans and the problem with that is is that there is no built up a tolerance or protection for this virus or flu.
So the reason why the WHO (the World Health Organization) has gone and given us a level four pandemic rating is because there is no real knowledge as of yet as to how this flu mutated, its pathogenesis (viral capabilities and strengths) is virtually unknown and unmeasured, and the worst part is that the mortalities or deaths that have occurred as with most flu cases aren't the weak, the old and the newborns were young with weakened or deficient immune systems. The H1N1 swine flu affects everyone and has even caused deaths in the 20 to 50 year old range which is always thought as the healthiest age range for people.
This ability of this virus to mutate and affect the 20 to 50 year old range is drawing a lot of similarities to the 1918 Spanish flu. It is also starting in a very similar manner - both flus started out rather mild. Then the Spanish flu in 1918 went ballistic and to spread like wildfire and became lethal. Over 40 million people died from this flu in 1918. The new swine flu could sputter out and be a mild or low pandemic or it could catch wind or mutate some more (by becoming more easily spread) and become a major pandemic and he could do this very quickly. It has already spread by way of our airlines to New York City, California, Texas and South Carolina in the United States. It is also in Canada, England, New Zealand, etc. all within a few days of the flu outbreak in Mexico City.

All of the conditions are there for this to be a major pandemic. The governments, at least, are stepping up to the plate and doing what is needed to try and stop or stem the progress of this flu. A school in New York City that was found to have at least 40 positive cases of the H1N1 Swine flu was shut down temporarily. Extra precautions are being made for air travel along with warnings and even declarations of emergency like in California and probably soon to follow in other states and countries.
The weird thing is that the majority that the fatalities from this virus or flu are clustered in Mexico and mostly in and around Mexico City. There has not been one fatality in the US as of yet. There has also been no posted deaths or fatalities from other countries as of yet. Maybe there are two strains of this disease and the more serious one is still located Mexico? Then again Mexico was also had over 1500 confirmed cases of the swine flu whereas the US has not only had 140 to 200. According to the news this could quickly change as the numbers will continue to rise in the United States and eventually so well to deaths or fatalities.
I hope this is not the case and I hope that the hotter warm weather contains this as it usually does with most flu viruses. The majority of viruses and flus that hit the United States tend to do so during the February and March months along with October November due to their being colder months. Generally, we do not get many flus in the summer and warmer months. Flus tend to congregate in these colder months and harvest themselves in people that have weakened immune systems from the cold weather and other reasons. Hopefully the recent warm weather will contain or even kill this H1N1 swine flu virus off before it reaches or becomes the next great pandemic.

I do not have a lot of belief in the US political system due to the fact that there's not a single sole in there that could ever tell the truth, but I do have belief in the CDC (Centers for Disease Control), WHO (World Health Organization) and other similar agencies and research centers. If you recall back in the 1980s and prior to the 1980s there was a nasty little variant called Ebola Zaire (remember the best seller Hot Zone?) which is a horrible disease with a almost 100% kill rate - you bleed out within three days from every orifice of your body. This Ebola Zaire or a similar variant to it was actually found in a shipment of monkeys on our countries coast.
If that virus had gotten out to nearby cities and towns it would have been worse than the great plague or the black plague of the Middle Ages. Now, if these researchers and government agencies can contain you Ebola which is the nastiest class 4 incurable disease in the world, then I have faith in their being able to contain and stop this recent H1N1 swine flu outbreak. Time will tell.
The only bad thing is that we are in the midst of one of the worst recessions in history and this potential pandemic could easily push us right into another Great Depression. As a matter of fact, if this H1N1 swine flu reaches the heights of the 1918 Spanish flu or worse we will easily see an astronomical plunge in all financial indexes and quickly meet or even exceed the Great Depression in its worst. The Great Depression was really bad with unemployment as high as 25 or even 30% and it took years and years to get back out of that.
The country and the world for that matter are on life support right now and are very fragile. They are only now starting to find a bottom and this swine flu if it becomes a level VI pandemic (which the WHO classifies as the most serious level of pandemics for flu) then all bets are off and prepare yourselves for the next great depression. Hopefully this is not the case, but it would be wise to stock up on some groceries and necessary supplies just in case you're stuck in an area with a high concentration of a nasty or even lethal flu pandemic. Again, I'm hoping for the best here. The best for mankind and then the best for the economy. I do trust in our current medical system in government agencies and researchers and hope they can quickly stop the spread of this nasty flu virus from Mexico City and the number of deaths that it causes.

I say close the gates. Stop the flow of any more illegals from Mexico. I am a legal citizen and pay taxes. I don't want any illegals that don't pay taxes bringing filth and disease to my kids.
