Drugs and the fight against obesity
We all live a fast paced life and a big part of that fast paced lifestyle is quick meals (fast food), junk food and snacks and overindulgence along with a lack in exercise. What is it that brings this about? Stress, time constraints, children and the never ending in and outs of daily chaos that consumes our lives. Rarely does one hold on to one job or career path through their lives. What was once thought of as a safe long term investment like the stock market must now be reconsidered with the recent nearly 50% drop in the American stock market (and upwards of 75% or more for certain overseas and emerging markets). With the changes in the economy, work and family life and patterns, this has contributed to a rapidly growing obesity statistics.
Now, there are drugs from everyday over the counter pills which can be found at your local Walmart, drug store and even on Ebay (although I don't recommend that you buy diet pills and drugs through Ebay as you do not know what you are getting - the FBI and FTC have found numerous tampering cases for items bought through Ebay). Many of these drugs and pills or supplements claim to be able to cause rapid and healthy weight loss. Some ads even claim weightloss of 20 pounds or more per week (Just look at some of the ads on Ebay - lose 25 pounds in the next 3 weeks, and so on. The FTC and numerous other government agencies have been going after manufacturers and sellers of weight loss and similar health care products that are making clearly fraudulant and bogus claims (a high proportion of these are from Ebay online auction and store sales - another reason to avoid Ebay for health care and weight loss or obesity related products).

One last thing about Ebay and then I won't mention it again - I recently searched on Ebay and found a seller that was selling what they claimed was medical grade TCA (trichloroacetic acid) as a skin peel solution. Upon looking at their ad they claimed to be a doctor and plastic surgeon from Oregon. You could tell from their ad or auctions that they were uneducated and to top it off after doing a little research (calling their state medical board) we quickly found that they were never licensed or schooled as a doctor of any kind and that the license they posted on their listings was a forgery. We forwarded this information to Ebay and they apparently don't care that there is ongoing fraud on their site that could potentially hurt a lot of people. They never even replied. Definitely makes you want to think twice before ordering any skin peels or any health care products from or through Ebay.
Now, back to obesity and the medical world. The best advice when it comes to weight loss is to first see your licensed doctor. They can best evaluate your unique body and determine what course of treatments, drugs, exercise and diet will be best for you. It may turn out that you cannot do some of the drugs or diets out there as they may not be healthy for you. A doctor will give you a complete physical checkover to determine if yourbody is healthy enough for certain exercise programs and more. It is also important for everyone to understand that drugs are not a quick fix for obesity.

Some people are under the idea that if they are obese they just need to find the right drug or supplements, pop a few a day and blamo they will lose all the weight they want and have that stellar and sexy bikini body. This is definitely not the case and is actually very dangerous thinking. Drugs can help with the severely obese when there is no alternative, but for the majority of people instead what is needed is a lifestyle change. Ones diet and overconsumption must be altered so that more healthy foods and leafy, green vegetables and fruits are eaten. One must also exercise. Proper exercise like running through a park or something similar is needed on a daily or at least every other day routine for approximately one half hour per day.
Then we need to refrain from fast foods like McDonald and Burger King hamburgers. Also stay way from junk food like twinkies and Ho Ho's. Sugars and sweets can also contribute to obesity and even diabetes. Yes, some people are genetically more susceptible to obesity, but what most people need in the end are not weight loss drugs or a quick fix - they need a lifestyle change. Proper exercise and diet can go a long way in avoiding obesity and living a longer, healthier life.
