Treating Cold Sores Effectively and Quickly
I wanted to take the time to talk to you about how to treat cold sores both effectively and quickly. People are often surprised when I tell them that the cold sores they are currently experiencing are in fact actually a type of herpes. A lot of the time this virus stays in your body and lays dormant. It doesn't go away. You won't know you have it, but once the conditions arise for it to spread, it will come out and you end up with a cold sore or some times several. Many people get the problem as a reoccuring infection years later after they think they have cured it. This is a problem that can easily be spread by kissing or even touching, so it is something most people want to address fast.
TCA peels are one of the best skin care treatments known to man!
First of all, it is important to not irritate the problem any further than it actually is - you don't want to make it worse than it already is. That means you shouldn't be constantly wetting with your tongue or putting makeup on it. This just causes more problems, more outbreaks and leaves you with the sore longer. Stress can also cause a huge problem. Also, acne can make it worse and so can acne treatments like bezoyl peroxide solutions and creams. Research has shown that in some cases stress can actually harbor or manifest the cold sore or herpes outbreak by itself. The best thing to do is to keep yourself calm during an outbreak or it'll last longer - this has been proven in numerous clinical studies and tests.

One of the methods for treating cold sores is to use a sealing petroleum gel. This works very good at prevent cracking or bleeding from the actual sore. It seals in the moisture and reduces the risk of it spreading. It also cuts off oxygen from the virus which then allows for healing and possibly sending the virus into remission. It is important to control the cracking and seepage from the sore as this will cause it to spread. Vaseline or another type of petroleum gel will work wonders at halting the spread of the cold sore and bringing about rapid healing. But remember, this will not cure it permeanently. The cold sore and herpes virus can reemerge at any time. And remember, stress can easily bring it on.

I have actually used the vaseline treatment myself and it works great. My doctor actually applied an acid solution (might have been TCA, not sure though) and then afterwards covered it with petroleum jelly. Then I reapplied the Vaseline for a few days. The bad skin peeled off and the cold sore went away. No scarring and it was gone in about a week. It was a nasty outbreak too.
