Just a few years ago VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) was a brand new idea or concept and most people were still using expensive land lines from the telco's (telephone companies like Bell South, AT&T and others - if you don't remember, Ma Bell got split up in the 70's and 80's due to anti trust legislation - this will probably happen to Google shortly too). With these old land lines you pay per minute and each call, plan and company are different. They had all sorts of hidden fees that you would always end up paying.

When I had Bell South prior to switching to VOIP with Lingo, I was averaging about $60 to $100 per month for my phone bills. I can remember telling my wife to watch how long she was on the phone as it was expensive for her to call her family in different states. A friend of mine told me about this VOIP and I now pay something under $30 per month for the exact same quality service and the best part is there is no time limit or charge per minute. It's a flat rate so my wife can talk to her relatives until she is blue in the face and it never gets any more expensive.
