The latest Google competitor - Cuil

Well, everyone has been saying that the time has come and it's already over due for the next big thing or the Google replacement.  Well, two of Google's best programmers have left to launch a new website called Cuil (www.cuil.com) which promises to be the next big thing.  Kind of reminiscent of Google early days when Alta Vista was the leader and no one ever saw how a search company started by two Stanford nerds could ever amount to anything.  Well, Google not only took over 90% of all internet search and made its owners Larry Page and Sergey Brin billionaires, it has also crossed into various other aspects of the internet from maps and such to a little but of everything.  Has Google grown to the point of maximum growth and now will fall to competing search engines like Yahoo and MSN or will it succumb to new upstarts like Cuil?

At first glance Cuil looks like a dark version of Google.  Google is a very simple design which centers around the one search entry box and it has a white background, whereas Cuil is virtually identical but with a black background.  This is the only similarity.  As one starts to search and look for terms apparently the biggest difference right now is that there are less scam, spam and other black hat sites ranking high as there are in Google.  These are sites that are solely out to rip off people in one way or another and have learned how to manipulate Google search through things like keyword stuffing, doorway pages, hidden text and links and more.

Apparently since Cuil is new the spammers and black hatters have not quite learned how to game the search algorithms yet.  We shall see and only time will tell if Cuil or someother search engine can takeover or retake the lead (as with Yahoo or MSN).  If you have any comments or new info on Cuil, Google or anyother search engine that you think other readers of Bestbraindrain.com would benefit from please feel free to leve a comment or two.

I didn't know about that website until you posted it here. I looked at it and it is refreshingly different from Google. I kind of like it, actually.
