Postal workers going postal over lost paychecks

Sunday, 12/16/2007 -- USPS (the United Postal Service) has stated that thousands of checks for postal workers were either lost in the mail or missing due to a glitch in the USPS computer system.  Upwards of 14,000 mail route carriers did not get paid this week due to this problem.

Currently USPS is working to fix this problem and states it will reimburse workers for missing checks.  Many USPS employees stated that they were depending on these checks to buy Christmas presents for their families and pay the bills as many live paycheck to paycheck.

USPS stated that the postal employees would get paid and this will get corrected shortly.  If not, I’m sure it will affect upcoming holiday deliveries and their will be an increase in the percentage of lost mail as a result of the possible backlash from upset postal workers.
