Online drug peddling of fake or illegally altered prescription medicines at all time high
By David Maillie
It was bound to happen. The quick cash and world wide market created by the online internet was due to inevitably lead or spill over into the high priced and high demand pharmaceuticals market. It was a booming billion dollar market that was ripe for the picking and boy was it ever! Some online pharmacies are actually genuine, but many are far from it and not even close and this is where the growing problem lies. According to the FDA website (FDA.org) up to 90% of all drugs sold on the internet from Viagra and Oxycontin are fakes or illegally altered and this could lead to devastating or even deadly results. The drugs in question here are all restricted to sale through a licensed pharmacy with a doctor or physicians prescription only. So how is this happening, what are the results and what step is law enforcement taking to curb this growing problem?
Per the FDA, the sale of any prescription or regulated drug by any other means is illegal and punishable by both massive fines and jail time. To see the most up to date list of what is classified as a prescription or reulated drug please see the FDA website. So it is definitely illegal, but htousands of websites are right now, point blank, offering the sale of prescription regulated drugs like Viagra and Oxycontin right on their front page. If it is so illegal and there are such large legal ramifications for it why are these websites still active and why doesn't the FDA take legal action with their special agents and investigators and take them down and prosecute? For the answer to that you can just go to the FBI website, FDA website, research the latest congressional hearings on these topics, or just Google (search the internet) for it and you will see that the problem is just too vast and they do not have the resources or manpower required.
Just like there are millions of members on Ebay (both buyers and sellers) there are millions of buyers looking to save some cash or obtain something they may not be able to get or have access to, and there are plenty of sellers who want to make some quick cash - and some rather large cash at that (according to the FBI and news sources the financial returns and potential earnings for illegal and fake prescription medicines now far surpasses illicit drugs like marijuana, cociane and heroin amongst others. The lure is not also the fast cash, but also the ridiculously small or even non existent risk of ever getting caught.

The FDA has already stated that they do not have anywhere's near the necessary manpower to effectively police the online marketplace - especially evry little website offering Viagra or Oxycontin and other drugs without prescriptions. Want an example of this? Just call the FDA hotline and report any number of websites that are currently offering Viagra and see what they say. Most likely they won't even take down any information or even bother to look into it unless it is an easily provable and very large case like the recent 100 million dollar prescription ring bust that included numerous corrupt doctors and pharmacists right here in the USA. FDA special agents like to do big, high profile busts and cases - they don't have time for the millions of other websites both in and out of country that actually make up the majority of this now burgeoning muti billion dollar illegal pharmaceutical trade. Lately, they only become involved in million dollar cases or when enough deaths start being reported in the press.
What does this mean for you and the internet? Its buyers beware. Just like with Nigerian email scam, car salesmen and politics in Washington - if something smells fishy it almost always is. If you know something should require a prescription and they don't require it or something similar then you should avoid it all together. Don't believe me? There are numerous cases of children dying from taking drugs that were made incorrectly, miscarriages caused by fake drugs, birth deformaties, and much, much more. The problem with internet sales of prescription regulated drugs by non licensed websites and such is that the risk is too great. That little blue pill that you bought for half the price of Viagra at your local pharmacy may not even contain sildenafil citrate (the active ingredient in Viagra that causes longer and better erections in men) but a sugar pill or worse unknown chemicals that could possibly harm or even kill.
It's even rumored that certain terrorist groups have become alerted to and even invoved in the fast and easy cash potential of the illegal online prescription drug trade - which is even more reason to stay far away from these websites. So, for your own sake and that of your family, avoid non licensed internet websites that appear to be offering prescription drugs of any kind. For more information on this see:

I have seen many online drug websites and I receive tons of spammy emails trying to lure me to buy Viagra and numerous other prescription medications. The funny thing is none says anything about requiring a prescription or doctors request.

Yes, its crazy. I keep receiving tons of spam emails from websites selling drugs like Viagra and most are illegal and do not require a prescription or anything. Look at this one here:

No prescription needed. I called the FDA and they said if it was in the US they could shut it down, but since it is overseas there is little if anything they can do about it.

Here are two websites owned by the same people that are a complete scam (I found their websites by looking up their ebay username on the internet):
bettercomplexions.com
tcapeel.net
I bought a skin bleaching cream from them through Ebay and I never received it. Neither did I receive the TCA skin peel kit I ordered. They ripped me off. As it turns out they have a fake doctors license posted in their listings - there is no doctor there and they aren't associated with any doctor per the California State Medical Board. Here's the ebay auction for the item they never sent me and ripped me off for (it also shows the fake doctors diploma/license):

I have complained to PayPal and Ebay. I also called the California attorney general and the oregon attorney general (as that is where there websites are registered) If someone knows how to get my money back and stop these slimy crooks please let me know.

This is the one industry I wish could NOT be marketing online. I have had too many offers for prescriptions online and coming from a line of Pharmacists and Doctors, I see no value and fear for the future if this continues to grow this way.

Here is a comment I posted about the above listed scumbag Tcapeel.net. It hasn't received any replies on this website yet:

Maybe it would help to get the local news crews involved in Portland Oregon and California. They can bring big attention to health related scams and fraudsters like the people that run tcapeel.net and bettercomplexions.com (aka ebay usernames bettercomplexions, hollywood_calif and hollywood_calif1 amongst others). It's unbelievable what people will do for money.
